Our story
From agency ownerto OttoBot.
2017
A marketing agency is born
Brendon founded a marketing agency to help businesses grow. Over time the same pattern kept appearing: the cost to acquire a new customer kept climbing, while the value of keeping an existing one was quietly underestimated.
2020
The lifetime-value pivot
As advertising became more expensive and more crowded, the work shifted. The priority became increasing lifetime value — making customers stay longer, spend more, and refer often. The most profitable businesses were the ones that nurtured relationships, not just chased leads.
2022
The human-note problem
In a landscape of overflowing inboxes, automated texts and cold calls, a handwritten note still cut through. It was personal, memorable and trusted. But for most businesses it was too slow, inconsistent and expensive to do at any meaningful scale.
2024
OttoBot is founded
Built for scale without losing the human touch. OttoBot combines real ballpoint pens, real paper and real handwriting with the reliability of automation — so businesses can send personalised notes by the hundreds or the hundreds of thousands.
2026
Writing relationships at scale
Today OttoBot helps teams turn retention into a growth channel. The same note that once took an afternoon to write now leaves the floor in seconds — and still feels like it was written by hand, because it was.
What we hold to
Four ruleswe don't bend.
Ink, not imitation
If it can be printed, it is not what we do. Every card is written with a pen that runs out and has to be replaced.
Scale without the tell
Volume must never be visible in the output. Variation is engineered into every letterform for exactly this reason.
Useful, not clever
Automation exists to remove the excuse not to send a note, not to remove the person from it.
Answer the phone
Support is staffed by people who know how the machines work.
